The challenge for March twisted challenge at Outlawz is set by me. It is a greetings theme and I chose Mother’s day or something for a special lady. Mother’s Day in the UK is 15th March this year, it is a different date in some other countries.
I saw a lovely card idea by Cindy Duke on Facebook and the cut file is available on Cricut Design Space. It is a lacy design, which my Cricut does not like and it did take me several attempts to get it to cut cleanly, along with a new mat, new blade, enlarging the size and different cardstock!
Using the cut file and my Explore 4 I used white cardstock to cut the white lace panel, then used a pearly blue card which also has the lace pattern cut into it, then mounted on a yellow card. I chose the colours to highlight those of the flowers. The centre piece is made using the print and cut feature on my Cricut Explore 4, the inner greeting panel is also print and cut.
I appreciate that Mother’s Day can be a difficult time for many people whether they have lost their Mother or lost their child, due to family difficulties or infertility, so I chose not to make it an in your face Mother’s Day card with the greeting inside. I can relate from my own fertility struggles and IVF treatment. This card could have a greeting on the front or could be used for other occasions such as Thinking of You or Get Well Soon or Birthday. This year will be my first Mother’s Day since my daughter moved to university, it has been a hard move for both of us, but is all part of the process of being a parent and giving your child their independence, even though you still worry 24/7.
